Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs at Burford Primary School. These will always include a sports club and teacher led clubs each half term. This has included:

  • Astronomy club – using telescopes to look at the moon
  • Arts and craft club – encouraging creativity
  • Coding club – children create their own computer games
  • Chess club – developing children’s strategic thinking
  • Creative writing club – encouraging a love of literature

Our club provision is regularly reviewed through our school council meeting. If your child has a particular interest in the club, or you have a passion which you would be willing to share with our children, please do contact the school office.

Our School Council

Choosing our new Burford Primary School Rules

The School Council got together over a number of occasions to work on a new set of school rules that are easy to remember both in the classroom and at play. They decided that rules that begin with "Be ..." are better than "Don't ..." and "Always ..." Once they'd decided this, they looked through a large number of possible "Be..." rules before coming to a unanimous decision that they wanted 3 rules only and they needed to be in this order: "Be Safe", "Be Ready" and "Be Respectful".

Then they worked out on their poster design to display in every classroom and in shared areas around school.

In preparation for launching the new school rules to the whole school community, the children practised their actions.
